There has been a lot of confusion about Variations and Errors on the current Muscle Machines Models. We will try and clarify some of the confusion and hopefully answer some of the questions. This is one collectors opinion but I will continually correspond with other collectors to gather the latest information and update the findings here. If you have any information on a variation or error, please submit your input to me at Bob@Littletoycars.com. |
| *First, What is
a Variation? A variation is a change or difference in a cars appearance or
Card difference, that occurs during a production run. Usually a
"Mid" Stream production change. In these cases, a car will be
produced one way for a limited amount of time and then for some reason,
usually a manufacturer decision, the appearance will change. Some are very
subtle and some are very noticeable, it all depends on the change itself.
These variations are usually not announced but just seem to show up over time, as cars and cards are compared as they are found. Some are planned and some are unplanned. An example of a variation on a Muscle Machine Model was a change in the color of the '53 Chevy pickup in set "D" from 2001, where the color of the truck changed during the production run from a milky enamel green to a brighter apple green color. This was a manufacturers decision and as a result you have two colors of the same vehicle that was available during the same production run. *What is a Error? A Error is usually a mistake in the packaging or on the vehicle itself that occurs during a production run, not usually planned but these occur at random. Most times is seems to result from a quality control problem or issue. An example would be a upside down bumper on a particular car or maybe a incorrect collector card inserted into a package. *Both of these are reasons for values and desirability of a particular model to increase over time and in some case's the value of the car increases by many times the original cost. Of course a variation has to be made public in order for the value to increase. You may have a variation or error but until someone else knows about it or wants it or it is made popular, it does not effect the value of the car even though it may be a legitimate difference. Remember that desire produces demand and in turn increases value. We will be updating this section with legitimate variations and some errors and will add some reference photos in the near future to give you an idea of what has been detected and reported so far. Please Keep Checking Back. |

Logo Blister Cards Single logo or logo blister cards. Here is the '69 Chevelle from the first release from Muscle Machines in 2000. The manufacturers logo is located under the car itself on the "name" card in the right corner. *See photo for details.
|
Double Logo Blister Cards Double Logo blister cards have the Muscle Machine logo on the upper right corner of the card and the auto manufacturers logo below the car itself on the name card. This is considered a double logo and were only issued on the first two releases, A&B 2000. *Note: The DL cards always have the "warning" label on the right lower side of the card as opposed to having it located on the left lower edge of the card. |

In the release "B" 2000 there was a variation of the orange '69 Chevelle. One was bright orange and later there was a more metallic bright orange version. |
Release "D" 2001 brought yet another mid production color change on the '53 Chevy PU. The first issue was a darker green enamel (right) and later one there was a apple green version (left). |
|
Release "F" &"G" 2001 gave us the short wheel base '57 Chevy's. Later during the production run, Funline corrected the problem, creating yet another variation. |
Release "J" 2001 we got the all black '57 Chevy which was a variation of the Black/White version. The all black was thought to be shorter but according to reliable sources, the two are similar in production numbers. |
|
Release "P" & "Q", Funline made another mid production change to the '56 Ford & '66 GTO flame style. Thus, we got another variation on both colors of the cars, 56 Ford & '66 GTO. |
Release "P" & "Q" '66 GTO. |
|
Release "P" '57 Chevy gave us yet another variation or Error. I would call it an Error. The '57 Chevy was painted a white pearl paint with flames, some time during the production run, there were some where the top of the car was plain white enamel without the pearl essence finish, but the rest of the car is pearl. This variation is very hard to see on the actual car. *Pictures coming Soon* |
