I recently acquired a few Racing Champion Proto-Types from the late 1990's. Below are some the cars with production bp's for comparison. If you have either the black '55 Chevy w/flames, production model or the '64 Dodge, please let me know. |
Racing Champions '34 Ford "Power Tour" Left: Production Model. Right: Proto Type. One of the differences on the cars are the 2 tampo's on the door as opposed to the 1 on the trunk. Each production model has a serial number on the base. The proto-types either have no number or a 00000. Pretty cool for sure.
'41 Willys Coupe "Power Tour" Left: Production Model. Right: Proto-Type. The differences are just like the car to the left. Extra Tampo's and no number base. On all of the Power Tour cards, the Proto-types have warning labels to the left of the car.
'55 Chevy-Tan/Black. Left: Production. Right Proto-type. On these there really isn't any noticeable difference except for the fact that the serial # on the proto-type is 00000. No difference to the package.
'70 Cuda. Left: Production. Right: Proto-Type. The proto-type also has the warning label on the left side of the card and the double tampo as opposed to the single on the production model car itself. The car has no number on the base and on all of the power tour cards the production card has a series issue #. The proto-type does not. |
'55 Chevy black w/flames and '57 Ford Ranchero. Both are Proto-types. |
'60 Chevy Proto-type and '64 Dodge Proto-type with a 00000 serial # on the base's. |
Top: '34 Ford Hot Rod Super Car Production Model. There are many differences on the car and the blister card itself. Bottom: '34 Ford Proto-type. Some of the difference's are the tampo missing from the roof a different looking engine and paint detail on the front grill as well as a 00000 base. The card has some differences as well. |
Top: '68 Camaro Hot Rod Production model. This one also has many differences compared to the Proto-type model below. One of the major difference's is that the production model has a black top, different wheels, engine and minor changes to the card. Bottom: '68 Camaro Hot Rod Pro Street Proto-Type Model. |
