April 30th 2000
This Update is from our most recent club meeting on April 30th.
Well, this day turned out to be another fun time, as usual with lots of activities and a whole bunch of new cars and stories to share with each other. We also added two new members to the "gang". I would like to welcome Ted and Sandra! We did some racing and I am very happy to say we have a new race champ. I will fill you in later on and tell the race history and explain why I am so happy about it.
This meeting was held at Dave Espino's house and I just want to thank Dave for being such a great host and organizer of the whole thing, as usual. Wait until you see the chips and dip trays that Dave made up for the occasion! A very nice touch to the whole theme. I have included some of the the highlights of the meet with pictures of the new cars that everybody has found since the last meeting. So here we go..................!
The race history is like this. Since we have been meeting, we have raced on and off, depending on the size of the group and the time alloted to this kind of fun. There has always been a guy and a car that have been the undisputed champ. Dave E. has always beat anything that has come up against him on the track. We have raced just about everything that we could think of against Dave's yellow, Jet Threat and nothing has beat him. Including , S'cool buses, Noodleheads, Boss Hosses and many others. About a month ago I was taking to a fellow "Redline Guy" and was admiring one of his cars and asked him if he would be willing to trade it. He said yes , and I got my first Jet threat for my collection. I had the idea that it might also give Dave's Jet threat a run for the money in our next race session. Well this day we gave it a test and to my thrill, we have a new champ! We raced them four times, alternating track lanes and my car won three of the four runs. Below are some of the pictures of the history making event.
